Certification Introduction

To improve the energy efficiency of electrical equipment and products in various industries (residential, commercial, and industrial) and achieve significant economic and environmental benefits, Australia and New Zealand have issued the Greenhouse and Energy Minimum Standards Bill 2012, abbreviated as GEMS, which took effect on October 1, 2012. The new GEMS regulations not only cover the previous main policies: the mandatory Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS for short), the Energy Rating Labeling Scheme (ERLS for short), and the Equipment Energy Efficiency Program (E3 for short), but also expand energy efficiency to the scope of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving energy efficiency, guiding enterprises and consumers to make the best choices from the perspective of minimizing the overall life - cycle cost of products.

Since October 1, 2012, Australia and New Zealand have adopted the GEMS energy - efficiency certification to replace the previous Australian MEPS energy - efficiency certification. GEMS certification is mandatory. Products within the scope of control must have GEMS certification to be sold in the market, and the applicant must be a company registered in Australia.

And according to the product category, the registration period is 5 years.
