AirPlay Certification

Home - AirPlay Certification

What is AirPlay?
AirPlay is a wireless technology launched by Apple Inc. in the United States. AirPlay can transmit videos, audios, and pictures from devices such as iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to third-party certified devices. The transmission medium is Wi-Fi, which is fundamentally different from Bluetooth wireless technology.

The Working Principle of AirPlay
Mobile phones, computers, routers, and AirPlay speakers all have one thing in common: they all support the Wi-Fi medium. However, just having a Wi-Fi signal alone is not enough. We also need the AirPlay protocol to be incorporated so that these devices know what they are transmitting. AirPlay is the "language" between devices!

What Can AirPlay Do?
If you think that AirPlay can only be used for listening to music, you are completely wrong. AirPlay can not only transmit audio files but also transfer video and photo files to Apple TV and printers. All of this is recognized through the AirPlay protocol.

The Certification Requirements That AirPlay Accessories Must Complete:

1. The "Wi-Fi Certification" program of the Wi-Fi Alliance;

2. The certification of Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM);

3. The Made for iPhone/iPad/iPod (MFI) certification.
